"Gun Free Zones" or "Killing Fields?"

Ted Nugent:
Gun-free zones are recipe for disaster

WACO, Texas (CNN) --

Zero tolerance, huh? Gun-free zones, huh? Try this on for size: Columbine gun-free zone, New York City pizza shop gun-free zone, Luby's Cafeteria gun-free zone, Amish school in Pennsylvania gun-free zone and now Virginia Tech gun-free zone.

Anybody see what the evil Brady Campaign and other anti-gun cults have created? I personally have zero tolerance for evil and denial. And America had best wake up real fast that the brain-dead celebration of unarmed helplessness will get you killed every time, and I've about had enough of it.

Nearly a decade ago, a Springfield, Oregon, high schooler, a hunter familiar with firearms, was able to bring an unfolding rampage to an abrupt end when he identified a gunman attempting to reload his .22-caliber rifle, made the tactical decision to make a move and tackled the shooter.

A few years back, an assistant principal at Pearl High School in Mississippi, which was a gun-free zone, retrieved his legally owned Colt .45 from his car and stopped a Columbine wannabe from continuing his massacre at another school after he had killed two and wounded more at Pearl.

At an eighth-grade school dance in Pennsylvania, a boy fatally shot a teacher and wounded two students before the owner of the dance hall brought the killing to a halt with his own gun.

More recently, just a few miles up the road from Virginia Tech, two law school students ran to fetch their legally owned firearm to stop a madman from slaughtering anybody and everybody he pleased. These brave, average, armed citizens neutralized him pronto.

My hero, Dr. Suzanne Gratia Hupp, was not allowed by Texas law to carry her handgun into Luby's Cafeteria that fateful day in 1991, when due to bureaucrat-forced unarmed helplessness she could do nothing to stop satanic George Hennard from killing 23 people and wounding more than 20 others before he shot himself. Hupp was unarmed for no other reason than denial-ridden "feel good" politics.

Suzanna Gratia Hupp explains meaning of 2nd Amendment!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1u0Byq5Qis

She has since led the charge for concealed weapon upgrade in Texas, where we can now stop evil. Yet, there are still the mindless puppets of the Brady Campaign and other anti-gun organizations insisting on continuing the gun-free zone insanity by which innocents are forced into unarmed helplessness. Shame on them. Shame on America. Shame on the anti-gunners all.

No one was foolish enough to debate Ryder truck regulations or ammonia nitrate restrictions or a "cult of agriculture fertilizer" following the unabashed evil of Timothy McVeigh's heinous crime against America on that fateful day in Oklahoma City. No one faulted kitchen utensils or other hardware of choice after Jeffrey Dahmer was caught drugging, mutilating, raping, murdering and cannibalizing his victims. Nobody wanted "steak knife control" as they autopsied the dead nurses in Chicago, Illinois, as Richard Speck went on trial for mass murder.

Evil is as evil does, and laws disarming guaranteed victims make evil people very, very happy. Shame on us.

Already spineless gun control advocates are squawking like chickens with their tiny-brained heads chopped off, making political hay over this most recent, devastating Virginia Tech massacre, when in fact it is their own forced gun-free zone policy that enabled the unchallenged methodical murder of 32 people.

Thirty-two people dead on a U.S. college campus pursuing their American Dream, mowed-down over an extended period of time by a lone, non-American gunman in illegal possession of a firearm on campus in defiance of a zero-tolerance gun law. Feel better yet? Didn't think so.

Who doesn't get this? Who has the audacity to demand unarmed helplessness? Who likes dead good guys?

I'll tell you who. People who tramp on the Second Amendment, that's who. People who refuse to accept the self-evident truth that free people have the God-given right to keep and bear arms, to defend themselves and their loved ones. People who are so desperate in their drive to control others, so mindless in their denial that they pretend access to gas causes arson, Ryder trucks and fertilizer cause terrorism, water causes drowning, forks and spoons cause obesity, dialing 911 will somehow save your life, and that their greedy clamoring to "feel good" is more important than admitting that armed citizens are much better equipped to stop evil than unarmed, helpless ones.

Pray for the families of victims everywhere, America. Study the methodology of evil. It has a profile, a system, a preferred environment where victims cannot fight back. Embrace the facts, demand upgrade and be certain that your children's school has a better plan than Virginia Tech or Columbine. Eliminate the insanity of gun-free zones, which will never, ever be gun-free zones. They will only be good guy gun-free zones, and that is a recipe for disaster written in blood on the altar of denial. I, for one, refuse to genuflect there.

8 Pro-Gun bills signed by AZ Governor

Arizona Only -- Gun Law Update

EIGHT GUN BILLS SIGNED BY AZ GOVERNOR

All anti-rights bills defeated, some pro-rights bills died

Basically, the state did very well if you're a rights supporter

Waiting until the last possible moment, Arizona governor Jan Brewer on July 13 signed all eight gun-related bills enacted by the state legislature in 2009. Two crucial bills, Constitutional Carry and penalty reduction for discreet carry without a permit, failed passage at the last minute and didn't make it to her desk. The eight bills signed into law, which will become effective on Sep. 30, 2009 (except SB 1242, effective immediately), are:

HB 2569 Smuggling people for profit, involving a deadly weapon

SB 1113 CCW in liquor-licensed places OK without drinking, unless no-gun signs

SB 1088 Domestic violence protection extended to romantic or sexual partners

SB 1168 Parking lots cannot ban firearms locked in vehicles, with exceptions

SB 1242 Exemptions from CCW and more for more "proper authorities"

SB 1243 Defensive display of a firearm in self defense defined and protected

SB 1437 AZ High School Marksmanship Program instructor definition expanded

SB 1449 Retroactive self-defense clarification (Harold Fish law)

At least 14 gun-related bills were introduced this year, with the few anti-rights bills repudiated early in the session and defeated. One other pro-rights bill died at the end, the effort to reduce required classes to three or four hours for people already well trained in gun use through military, police or private programs. Some 20legislators walked out very late on the final session (which went all night and ended at 7:30 a.m.) stealing away votes that had been verbally committed and were needed for passage of that and the petty offense amendment for discreet carry without a permit. The pro-rights people were left with 30 votes, and needed 31 to pass the laws.

The entire session was run in a bizarre manner -- no legislative work for months in the Senate while the Napolitano deficit was being resolved, then an impossibly crowded and rushed legislative calendar in the final few weeks, with no room for error, adjustment or contemplation. The procedures were a disgraceful humiliating embarrassment to good governance.

Constitutional Carry, which would have allowed law-abiding Arizonans to carry a firearm discreetly -- with the same freedom they've had since statehood in 1912 to carry openly -- got tied up in the Rules committee in the closing days of the session. A late amendment to the bill, which created a conflict with federal law, forced Rules to hold the bill and there wasn't enough time left in the session to make the needed changes.

The amendment was added by Judiciary chairman Jonathan Paton (R-Tucson), normally a good supporter of RKBA, who insisted he wouldn't hear the bill without the new language. The amendment criminalized smuggling guns across the Mexican border, which DPS wants even though it's a federal matter. That carrot might have helped move the cart on Constitutional Carry, which DPS is basically against, but in the end, scuttled the bill.

Following standard practice, this year's changes will be produced as an insert and included with copies of The Arizona Gun Owner's Guide, posted on our website, and available as a formatted pdf file or plain text for downloading. This is a preliminary analysis for review and comment.

Summarizing this year's changes:

KEY: AGOG Page# / Bill# / Statutes Affected / Description

43, 71, 79, 80 / SB 1113 / §§ 4-229, 4-244, 4-246, 11-441, 13-3102, 13-3112, 38-1102

Carry in restaurants for CCW permitees only.

CCW-permit holders can carry in places licensed to serve alcohol, unless the places post official signs from the Dept. of Liquor Licenses banning entry to anyone with a firearm. The ban was written broadly enough to prohibit anyone from carrying, even on-duty police or employees, if signs are posted.

If access is not banned and you possess a firearm, you may not drink. If you enter you have an affirmative defense against prosecution (meaning you must prove your innocence) if you were not informed of the ban, the sign fell down, the sign was posted less than 30 days before you were charged, or you weren't a resident of the state. The exemption for going in to seek aid in an emergency has been preserved, and you have permission to go in far enough to see if there's a sign posted.

You can expect to see No Guns Allowed signs springing up all over the state, featuring official wording and an image of a gun inside a red circle with a slash through it. Drinking while carrying in a liquor-serving establishment, or carrying in such a place if it's posted for no guns, is a class 3 misdemeanor.

The guns-in-restaurants bill also says: Members of a sheriff's volunteer posse who have received specified training (AZPOST) can bear arms while on duty, with conditions. A U.S. law enforcement officer with 10 consecutive years of service and a special picture ID can carry concealed without a permit, and their most recent law-enforcement employer must issue the card on request. AZPOST-certified LEOs who volunteer for their agency's reserve program are exempt from taking the CCW training program. Misconduct with weapons in an act of terrorism is raised to a class 2 felony. Note that terrorism is broadly defined (§13-2301) and this law could be applied beyond the common understanding of terrorism (e.g., a felony with a firearm intended to influence policy or affect the conduct of the state). Another extra guarantee against localities banning LEOs from carrying firearms has been added.

24 / SB 1088 / §13-3601 / Domestic violence expansion

Penalties for domestic-violence offenses, including restraining orders and firearms confiscations, can now be applied, in addition to problems between family members, to people who are or were in "a romantic or sexual relationship." The law is a response to the case of a woman murdered by her boyfriend. A restraining order was unavailable because they weren't married. It's unclear, as always, how much a piece of paper from a court would have influenced a murderer. Now, people in a casual relationship have an enormously powerful weapon they can use on each other in the event of a quarrel -- confiscation of any collection of arms and a ban on possession. Questions linger as to how much of a relationship qualifies, which the statute left ambiguous.

55, 70 / SB 1168 / §12-781 / Ban on prohibiting guns in parked vehicles

It's unlawful for a property owner, tenant, public or private employer or business entity (called the "responsible party" below for brevity) to create a policy or rule that prevents a person from lawfully transporting or storing any firearm in a privately owned motor vehicle if: 1 – the vehicle is locked or the firearm is in a locked compartment on a motorcycle; and 2 - the firearm is not visible. Any attempt to do so is null, void, unenforceable and without legal effect.

The ban on gun bans in private vehicles doesn't apply under four conditions: 1 - possession of the firearm is already banned under federal or state law; 2 - the vehicle is owned or leased by the responsible party in which case the ban is at their discretion; 3 - the responsible party has a facility secured by a fence or other physical barrier, and also limits access by a guard or other security measure, and the responsible party provides secure storage with ready access and retrieval, similar to the gun-locker rules for public buildings and events; and 4 - compliance with this statute would violate another applicable federal or state law. Nuclear generating stations must comply with gun-
locker requirements.

The parking area for a single-family detached residence is exempt from this law. Department of Defense contractors whose property is located wholly or partially on a military base are exempt from this law. A responsible party can provide an alternate parking facility close to the main facility, ban firearms at the main one, and allow them at the alternate facility, as long as they don't charge any extra fee.

Anticipating possible legal challenges from large corporations or other property owners whose parking space is open to the public, the legislature included a six-point set of findings, rare in state bills, to clarify that: 1 - the state and federal Constitutions provide strong protection for the fundamental right to keep and bear arms for self defense; 2 - the enjoyment of this right is impaired if people are deprived the right to keep arms in their vehicles; 3 - people are deprived of their rights if firearms cannot be kept in their private vehicles; 4 - your locked private vehicle is private, not a public space, you have the right to furnish it any way you like that is legal to enhance your comfort, security, ease of movement and enjoyment of liberty; 5 - parking lot operators are not unduly burdened by the presence of legally possessed property secured within the vehicle by its owner; and 6 - this act is for the benefit and protection of people who choose to exercise and enforce their fundamental right to bear arms in self defense in their movements throughout this
State, including in their personal motor vehicles.

114 / SB 1243 / §13-421 / Defensive display of firearms protection

"Defensive display of a firearm" means: 1 - Verbally telling someone that you have a firearm or can get one; 2 - Exposing or displaying a gun in a way that a reasonable person would understand means you can protect yourself against illegal physical or deadly physical force; and 3 – Placing your hand on a firearm while it is in your pocket, purse or other means of containment or transport.

Defensive display is justified when and to the extent a reasonable person would believe physical force is immediately necessary to protect yourself against another person's use or attempted use of
unlawful physical or deadly physical force. A defensive display is not required before using or threatening physical force, in a situation where you would be justified in using or threatening
physical force.

Defensive display is not justified if you intentionally provoke the other person, or if you use a firearm in the commission of a serious offense or violent crime (defined in §13-706 and §13-901.3).

This important new law clarifies that a proper defensive reach for or announcement of firearm possession is an acceptable element in the continuum of self-defense, and should not be charged as a crime. Improper display of a firearm can be anything from a class 1 misdemeanor (e.g., disorderly conduct) to a class 3 felony (e.g., aggravated assault). It also helps balance out the problematic and arbitrary "threatening exhibition" of a gun allegation that prosecutors can make in charging a felony as a "dangerous offense" (§13-702 and 704). The threat of this extra charge can be used to coerce a plea agreement, and now this is balanced with a specified stipulation of proper
display of a gun without firing at a potential assailant.

44 / SB 1437 / §15-714.01 / High school marksmanship training expansion

Instructors for the Arizona Gun Safety Program, a marksmanship course for high school students, can be certified by a national association of firearms owners, in addition to the Arizona Game and Fish Dept.

SB 1449 / Retroactive self defense (Harold Fish law)

In certain cases, "Laws 2006, chapter 199 applies retroactively... regardless of when the conduct underlying the charges occurred." The state enacted amendments in 2006 to make it clear that, if a person claims self-defense, the state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant acted without justification (the appropriate "innocent until proven guilty" standard). One of the laws amended, which had been quietly slipped in by prosecutors without review ten years earlier, forced a defendant to prove innocence, the exact opposite of what American laws should be (it made you guilty unless you could prove your innocence, a tyrannical standard). Part of these changes became known as the Castle Doctrine -- you can stand your ground if attacked, intruders in your home are a legally recognized threat, and self defense was to receive robust protection
under the law.

The new rules were supposed to protect people in a predicament like Harold Fish, a schoolteacher with a clean record out hiking in May 2004. He was attacked by a homeless known troublemaker with violent dogs on a forest trail outside Payson. Mr. Fish, who survived by shooting his assailant three times in the chest at close range, was at first released in what appeared an obvious self defense, but was then attacked by the county attorney, in a trial that reeked of unfairness.

The legislature is here making it clear that people are entitled to the full protection of the law, and the public's safety will likely be enhanced with this small measure that serves notice on the powers that be. Other problems, like failure to fully inform juries, bad jury instructions, exclusion of exculpatory or illuminating evidence, exorbitant cost and inordinate timeframes, and other potholes in the criminal justice system remain to be fixed.

HB 2569 (§13-2319) and SB 1242 (§13-3102)

Two additional gun laws will affect the statutes in the back of The Arizona Gun Owner's Guide, but have little direct impact on the general public or the text of the book. §13-2319 is amended to make smuggling people for profit or a commercial purpose a class 2 felony if the offense "involved the use of a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument." In §13-3102, we find that more "proper authorities" have been exempted from gun laws that restrict the public, like carrying without a permit, concealed carry in a car without a permit, making, having, transporting or selling prohibited weapons, having a defaced deadly weapon, entering a public establishment or public event with a deadly weapon after being told not to, and more. The new crop of exempt special people includes community correctional officers, detention officers, and special investigators with DOC or the Dept. of Juvenile Corrections. Other sections of the bill repeat language found in SB 1113, a common practice to help assure passage (if one bill fails, the language gets through in the
other bill).

It's interesting to note that, at the federal level, a growth process like this took place for decades, with a new batch of people added 32 times, until the statute grew so embarrassingly long (one sentence of 741 words) Congress shortened the law by 610 words, cutting out all the named groups, but expanded the impact by simply making it applicable to "any officer or employee of the United States. That statute, 18 USC §1114, makes it a greater crime to kill them than to kill you or me. How that comports with equal protection under the law is unclear.

What the 2nd Amendment is REALLY for... Dr. Suzanna Gratia

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4069761537893819675

2nd AMENDMENT & GUN RIGHTS UPHELD IN ARIZONA!

Today, the AZ Senate passed Senate Bill 1243 with no amentments and Senate Bill 1113 with only the NRA backed amendment. Two hostile amendments were defeated thanks to the help of our strong supporters in the Senate.

But, let's not forget to thank all of the citizens who called and lobbied these Senators. Trust me, the Senators did NOT come to the decision on their own...

I was informed (per his secretary) that our representative, Senator Alvarez, WAS TAKING A POLL of the calls coming in...

This CLEARLY SHOWS the need to stay vigilant and sit on these politicians to make sure they REPRESENT US and NOT their own ideas!

Fro future use, below is Senator Alvarez' phone number. Keep it close at hand, as this is NOT the last battle. Don't forget the little saying, "As goes California, so goes the rest of the Nation".

This battle is NOT over, and will unfortunately continue... STAY AWARE...

In Maricopa AZ, we live in District 25, Senator Alvarez.

His phone number is: 602/926-5999 ext. 5895.

Obama Earmarks 80,000 Troops for Chaos in U.S.

THIS ARTICLE RECEIVED FROM: HumanEvents@HumanEventsOnline.com

Dear Fellow Concerned American:
This briefing is a critical, time-sensitive warning. Please read what I am about to say carefully, because your very life may depend on it.

A whole lot of already shell-shocked people are going to learn the hard way that the veneer of "civilization" is far thinner than most realize.

U.S. Preparing a Military Response to Coming Social Chaos

As the shocking confidential information contained in this briefing shows, the threat of social meltdown and chaos is so large a domestic law-enforcement arm of the U.S. military (referred to by "The Army Times" as the "Consequence Management Response Force") has been created to deal with what U.S. officials believe to be a coming, unprecedented wave of massive social chaos.

Later I'll show you why many Washington insiders (including officials directly involved in homeland security) are personally making emergency preparations for social chaos. In addition, outgoing Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson told Sen. James Inhofe and Rep. Brad Sherman that so much financial mayhem lies ahead U.S. troops may have to impose martial law (READ: SUSPENSION OF THE CONSTITUTION) to deal with social unrest.

Yes, U.S. Officials Are Quietly Preparing for BIG Trouble Ahead

A new report by the Army War College's Strategic Studies Institute states flatly the U.S. military must prepare for "a violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States" that could be provoked by "unforeseen economic collapse" or "loss of functioning political and legal order."

Late last year, The Washington Post noted the incoming Obama Administration is going to "earmark" at least 20,000 troops returning from Iraq to deal with "domestic emergencies." Since then, the Army Times has broken the story that the domestic emergency army unit has been increased to 80,000 troops, who are being trained right now in Georgia.

In short, U.S. officials expect big trouble ahead - but they are not warning the general public about the danger (much less urge the unsuspecting masses to make basic preparations).

A rare critic of the government's keep-the-public-in-the-dark mentality is former head of the U.S. Commission on National Security, Stephen Flynn. He noted in a recent Wall Street Journal editorial: "Too many officials believe telling the truth to Americans about the risk would set off a nationwide panic. Thus, they keep us sheep in the dark for our own good."

Boiled down, you need a real plan to deal with massive social dislocations that are headed our way. And you need to get started right now, because the government isn't going to give you a heads-up.

My name is Lee Bellinger, publisher of the monthly financial, health, and taxation intelligence advisory Independent Living. In my two decades of publishing discreet information about threats to your liberty, health and prosperity, never before have we produced as important a document as my best-selling Social Chaos Survival Guide: Smart, Savvy Precautions To Make You Self-Reliant in These Dangerous Times.

Here's Why Washington Expects to Use Troops Against Americans

Let me get straight to the point about the high probability of social chaos, what it will look like, and what you can do to not be among the millions of unsuspecting Americans who are going to get caught flat-footed.

You see, a government-consumer debt bubble 20+ years in the making is imploding - as desperate federal meddling to stave off financial collapse is "funded" by frantic funny-money printing to shower trillions of dollars over a restive public.

Even "mainstream" financial figures are finally admitting we may be in more than a recession. For example, the CEO of General Electric, Jeff Immelt, recently conceded the U.S. may be descending into a depression.

Until a few short months ago, official Washington wasn't even using the "R" word. The "experts" are finally fessing up to what the rest of us can already see: Ghost malls springing up from coast to coast, with an estimated 148,000 store closures projected so far for 2009 - including Steve and Barrys, Sharper Image, Wicks, Levitz, CompUSA, Circuit City, Linens and Things, KB Toys, Whitehall Jewellers, and Shoe Pavilion.

Frightened U.S. policy-makers also note a number of giant chains are on the brink of bankruptcy for 2009, including Phillip Van Heusen (IZOD/Calvin Klein), Macys, Office Depot, Pacific Sunware, Bombay Company, Pep Boys, Sprint-Nextel service stores, Ethan Allen, Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Dillards, Starbucks, the Gap, Footlocker, and Home Depot.
Dire Unemployment Picture Foreshadows Social Chaos

John Williams of the authoritative Shadow Government Statistics notes that unfudged, un-manipulated government statistics suggests a whopping civilian unemployment rate of 17% - with a projected total to exceed 30% (during the Great Depression, unemployment approached an historic 25%).

In the U.S., job-shedding has now exceeded post-World War II levels and the January 28 Wall Street Journal warned: "One troubling sign is that the states that were first into recession - those with a heavy concentration of home building and manufacturing - are getting worse, not better..."

In December, the International Monetary Fund's managing director Dominique Strauss-Kahn warned of riots and unrest sweeping through Western countries as lower-income households are beset with credit constraints and rampant unemployment. (Such riots have already caused the government of Iceland to fall and triggered riots in Greece.)

Today's Americans Don't Resemble the Hardy Depression-Era Generation

Not to be politically-incorrect, but the simple truth is millions of Americans who've never known anything but prosperity and easy-money have a militant expectation that society "owes" them something. And with so many families on the margins of survival already, the speed of the downward unemployment spiral is downright ominous (and unprecedented).

Worse, there are few signs the taxpayer dependents of today have any of the self-reliance skills that saw the hardy Great Depression generation through the tough times.

In fact, there is mounting evidence tens of millions of low-income government dependents and many others infected with a sense of entitlement are prone to crime and violence - especially when it dawns on the masses there are not enough jobs and government promises of "relief" are as empty as the U.S. Treasury is bankrupt.

For example, in response to financially-troubled New York State making minor trims to its budget, an ugly 50,000+ mob took to the streets around city hall to demand higher taxes against the "rich." (Similar protests were mounted in Albany, Buffalo, and White Plains.)

In just the last year, when fuel prices were soaring and metals such as platinum were exploding, gasoline thefts across the nation became rampant. Copper was being ripped off from construction sites, pipes were torn out of abandoned houses and catalytic converters containing trace elements of platinum were being shanghaied from parked cars all over the country.

Of course, the possibility of a full-scale depressionary unemployment is just one "trigger" threatening to cause society to come completely unglued.

The Wheels Almost Came Off the Cart on September 18, 2008

Just last September 18, for example, the entire U.S. financial system nearly collapsed - coming within hours of unprecedented panic withdraws from U.S. banks and money market accounts totaling $5.5 trillion (well over a third of the nation's entire annual economic output).

The chairman of the House capital markets subcommittee, Rep. Paul Kanjorski, recently spoke on the record about the little-known episode, noting "Five-and-a-half trillion dollars would have been drawn out of the money market system of the United States, would have collapsed the economy of the world... it would have been the end of our political system and economic system as we have known it".

During the September 18 crisis "episode", the Treasury Department's emergency pumping of $105 billion into the financial system failed. It was only after Treasury abruptly announced it would extend existing federal guarantees of $100,000 deposit insurance to $250,000 that the crisis abated (which is fortunate given the feds are already so awash in red ink they would have trouble covering such large losses no matter how many dollars they print).

Rep. Kanjorski's nightmare scenario almost became reality: Suddenly inaccessible ATMs, frozen bank accounts, retirement funds, savings accounts, and small business payroll bank accounts. This near-total collapse of the U.S. banking system happened right under the nose of the media. Almost no one even knew anything out of the ordinary was going on - the point being you can't count on the media to give you early warning of things to come!

Systemic Collapse is a Real Possibility: Other Shoes Are Getting Ready to Drop

It is far too dangerous to ignore the growing signsof impending national social chaos. Even after absorbing some of the unsettling facts in this briefing, you need to act calmly and decisively make sure you can get the things you need and protect what's yours - with undertones of frantic - while you still can. The signs of trouble abound.

Congressional Quarterly notes that pension fund losses are about to spill out onto the front pages - with nearly as much financial exposure as that which brought down America's banking giants.

It has not made much news yet, but the pension funds of millions of retirees is down by a whopping $1.9 trillion. This is why cities such as Philadelphia are quietly seeking federal money to bolster pension funds which CQ notes are 60% invested in the stock market - which itself has collapsed by a catastrophic 50% in just the last 18 months.

Not to scare the pants off you, but the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has quietly informed Congress that the "insurance" agency for private pension funds, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, is at high risk of failure. (This will not become a "crisis" until desperate people start trying to tap early retirement money that is not there - for now the looming pension catastrophe remains a "dormant" threat).

Worse, the former head of the U.S. Comptroller General Office, David Walker, essentially told Congress (before resigning in disgust) that the Social Security "Trust Fund" is a vault of IOUs; and Medicare will soon be effectively bankrupt.

State Governments Are Becoming Too Financially Broke for Law-Enforcement

The American Association of Architects' historically-reliable construction index has plunged 34.7% - a grim indication the commercial real estate market is the next shoe to drop, which analyst Mike Larson forecasts will lead to an "unstoppable chain reaction of bankruptcies."

The reason I bring this up is because 46 states are already experiencing major budget shortfalls. And yet it is taxes from U.S. commercial real estate on which local and state governments depend to fund fire, police and social services. (Not to mention major insurance carriers - many of which are going to go belly-up when the full extent of the commercial real estate bust hits their reserve portfolios.)

States such as California and Kansas don't even have enough money to send out tax refund checks (much less properly fund police departments) and are coping with the biggest annual job loss in a single year since 1945 (down 2.8 million jobs in 2008 alone).

The Washington Post notes two out of three large police departments in U.S. cities are already reporting budget cuts and hiring freezes, even as 233 departments told the Police Executive Research Forum that they are noticing a major "uptick" in property crime which they attribute to financial unrest.

The National Center for the Victims of Crime reports a whopping 24% increase in calls from October 2007 to October 2008 as "job losses and economic stress factor into increased violence."

In addition, cash-strapped states have been forced by collapsing tax revenue to release hardened criminals back into society, noted the Post. On February 21, The Charlotte Observer reported on a disturbing trend which is going on all over the country: Major budget cuts for jails even as criminality is on the rise.

The Observer story cited the closing of a youth detention center for violent offenders, an all-too-common "low-profile" budget-cutting practice going on all over the country.

More Evidence You Need to Know Before the "You Know What" Hits the Fan

Think about the widespread collapse of order and emergency services in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina - except on a national level. The implementation of gun-confiscation laws, looters and thugs terrorizing the elderly with impunity, besieged hospitals without power, doctors and medicine. People forcibly herded into "containment zones" and denied access to food, water, and medical attention. At least 45 patients died in one city-run hospital after being abandoned by doctors and staff.

More recently, a simple fuel pipeline break in America's barely-functioning, antiquated energy infrastructure spawned major gasoline delivery disruptions throughout the entire Southeastern Seaboard region. For over six weeks, drivers could not find gasoline except by standing in line for hours to get just a few gallons of fuel.

The recent regional collapse of the U.S. fuel infrastructure is a major warning sign that the energy supply chain is stretched dangerously thin - which combined with financial unrest has the strong potential to create major disruptions in the food supply chain (most population centers have only three days of food available to the public through supermarkets - meaning panic runs on food are a distinct possibility as the potential for social chaos continues to mount).

If you think these scenarios cannot happen in the United States of America, talk with anyone who has ever been in the path of a hurricane. They will confirm that by the time the general public catches on to the danger, getting everyday items such as gasoline, batteries, plywood, medicine, water, and food becomes next to impossible. Social services, police protection, public transportation, and highway systems become next to useless.

When the Police Abandon Law-Abiding Neighborhoods to Mobs

And don't even get me started on police protection. Past riots in Washington DC and Los Angeles portend a disturbing pattern when social chaos overwhelms order. The police almost always "pull back" and abandon entire neighborhoods to vicious mobs.

In the case of the 1992 Los Angeles Rodney King riots (as Caucasians and Asians were hunted down, robbed, and slaughtered), the police hunkered behind their defensive cordons as the murderous racist rage unfolded - the only outside contact law-abiding victims had in the riot zone were with intrepid news helicopters hovering overhead, broadcasting the racial pograms on live TV.

You may even remember the only community to come out unscathed were sections of Los Angeles populated by Asian merchants - who fended off the mobs by placing shooters on the roofs of buildings within their defense perimeter. These heroic Korean merchants successfully protected their families, shops and homes. All because they knew how worthless bureaucrats truly are and made their own preparations. Where are you in this process?

The coming social chaos will magnify these problems a thousand-fold. In short, it is extremely important to be one step ahead of the general public during an unfolding crisis. And at least three long steps ahead of the government's draconian, blunderbuss, freedom-stealing response.

Government Deliberately Keeps Public in the
Dark About Multiple Threats to Public Order

Some Americans have learned from past history and are quietly making basic emergency preparations for social chaos. Private gun sales at all-time record highs. Safe makers and alarm and generator installers have never been so busy. Not even close.

Highly successful financial players such as commodities genius Jim Rogers now openly says the U.S. is heading for an inflationary holocaust.

Which is why, for over a year - as confidence in the U.S. financial and political system
continues to evaporate - physical gold and silver have been flying off the shelves - not just in the United States but all over the globe. The unavailability of physical gold and silver has become so acute that major U.S. mints have either curtailed or stopped taking orders for new coins.

The Washington Elite Are Quietly Making Themselves More Self-Reliant

Now I want to share an important personal insight with you that will probably never make the news. You see, I belong to two Washington, D.C. membership organizations which date back to the 1800s - with members that include a smattering of cabinet officials, members of Congress, mid-level federal managers and many, many, retired former insiders.

This is how I first learned that many top-level Washington insiders - many of whom have been directly involved in developing the Homeland Security Department, do not have confidence in government preparations for social chaos.

I know this for a fact, not just because of my conversations with club members. I am also an acquaintance with a private contractor who has a booming specialty business which does nothing but work in posh DC neighborhoods, installing emergency back-up generators, freezers for food, and safes (Even a quick review of the DC yellow pages suggests that installing emergency generators and other survival precautions has become a prospering cottage industry in the Washington area.)

As one of my very best Hillsdale College professors would have mused: "What would lead so many influential Washington insiders (who are in a position to know) to seek out ways to become so much more self-reliant than the average citizen?"

Outgoing Vice President Dick Cheney's Chilling Prediction

Of course, financial mayhem may be the least of America's problems. Right after leaving office, Vice President Dick Cheney warned of the possible deaths of "perhaps hundreds of thousands of Americans" in a terror attack using nuclear or biological weapons. "I think there is a high probability of such an attempt," the straight-talking Cheney warned during an interview with Politico.

An important item buried deeply in The Washington Post recently noted there are already 20,000 commercially-available labs in the world where a single person could synthesize any existing virus. In those same 20,000 labs, five people with $2 million can create an advanced pathogen-meaning a virus that will be able to infect even those people who have been immunized with conventional vaccines, and kill perhaps a million of them.

Former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson confessed to a reporter he "worries every single night" about a possible bioterror attack on the U.S. food supply. "For the life of me," he said, "I cannot understand why the terrorists have not attacked our food supply because it is the easiest thing to do".

Two Categories of People: The Prepared vs. the Clueless

Whatever form the "triggering event" takes, not only will millions of Americans suddenly discover they are completely on their own, they will be completely unprepared for the government's draconian response to social chaos.

So there are two categories of people in America right now:
*Category 1 are the millions of clueless who blissfully assume their political overlords are going to take care of them. These are the people most likely to get caught flat-footed when all hell breaks loose.
*Category 2 are prudent, savvy people who are taking basic steps toward making their families and their households more self-reliant.

You should know most people in "Category 1" probably don't agree with me. After all, reliable polling suggests some 70% of Americans have a bliss-like faith our new President Barack Obama and his top Congressional allies (like Barney Frank) are going to stop the unfolding depression.
Forgive me, but I am not drinking the kool-aid.

There was no shortage of people who disagreed with me in 2007, when I warned my subscribers to get out of the U.S. financial sector on grounds it was destined to collapse. At that time, millions of people were reassured by their Wall Street-paid brokers and Wall Street advertiser-dominated TV financial "news networks" - such as CNBC - that all was well.

In fact, in those days anyone who dared suggest the mighty U.S. financial system is a house of cards took a big chance of being dismissed as "perma-bears", nay-sayers, and yes, even unpatriotic!

Confession Time: This Information is NOT for Most People

Look, if you are among the 70% who believe Barack Obama and Congressional Democrats are going to "fix" the U.S. financial system with their trillion-dollar+ special-interest spending orgy, then you should stop reading this letter right now because there is little or nothing I can do for you.
People should want to stand their ground without attracting a whole lot of attention-either from the authorities of mobs of desperate fellow citizens who lacked the foresight to make even the most basic of preparations.

No amount of advance preparation will save you unless you train yourself to recognize the warning signs of full blown chaos at least 48-72 hours before panic sets in among the general population. Once people start to overwhelm banks, pharmacies, gas stations, and supermarkets, you must be several steps ahead of them.

Large segments of the U.S. population are conditioned to government handouts and will cheerfully accept the imposition of a national police state. When social chaos breaks out, these people will expect you to give them what is yours.

When crisis strikes, too many Americans will be dependent upon government-run sources of news, and therefore won't be able to get a balanced picture of what's really going on in the country. Remember, you can't count on the TV networks and major newspapers to alert you to the actual casualty numbers in the wake of a biological attack.

You MUST be in a position to acquire your own information in order to make the critical judgments that could save your family's lives! A shocking expose of the language and phrases news broadcasts will adopt should federal emergency planners seize upon a crisis to justify putting troops in the streets.

Many of the nation's biggest and most respected insurance companies are heavily invested in commercial real estate - the latest sector of the economy in the process of collapsing.

Avoid Detention Under Martial Law
In a federal bioterrorism exercise known as "Operation Top-Off", federal planners determined that "voluntary" travel restrictions would break down quickly. One idea on the boards was to create temporary detention centers for "healthy" citizens to be warehoused for 2-3 weeks, before being certified by "public health officials" for out-of-state travel.
Events are moving fast and if I may say so, in near-biblical proportion. This is not the time to be alone, or unprepared, or unaware. So please act right now because there isn't a moment of preparation you can afford to miss.

The Second Amendment March!

I saw this email from a USCCA member a few days ago...

"Please help lead us in the charge against the anti-gunners! Every day I see something from you or from the NRA, and I feel like I am watching a freight train coming at me. I feel so helpless to stop it, and I feel like I can't get out of the way. Please help us "regular Joes" band together and not just ****** and moan about new laws, but do something to stop the charge."

Friend, I feel your pain. Often times, even I feel helpless when I think of the anti-gun machine's power and drive. Well, now we have something:

Today is a BIG day, because I am telling you about the Million Gun Owner / Second Amendment March! It will be a peaceful demonstration on Washington D.C. that is slated for the Spring of 2010.

The whole idea will be to peacefully show the world that American Gun Owners are GOOD people who simply want to be left alone to live their lives in prosperity and in hot pursuit of happiness.

I didn't come up with the idea, but I have been working with the guy who did- Skip Coryell- a firearms trainer from Michigan.

Now he has Ted Nugent on board, and since Ted Nugent is an AMAZING guy, I really believe this thing is going to materialize into something very, very productive.

The key word in all of this is PEACE. The goal of the Million Gun Owner March will NOT be to intimidate- it will not be a show of force.

It will be to say "Look, world- we're not scary people. We are fathers, mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers. We are caring, responsible, law-abiding citizens who truly care about the direction of our country, and we just want to tell you that we do care about our God Given and constitutionally recognized rights to self defense and firearm ownership.

"I'm sure we'll be hearing a LOT more about the Million Gun Owner / Second Amendment March, and I hope to help you stay 'in the know'.

Skip has orchestrated the creation of a website to keep everyone up to date with, and here's the URL:

www.SecondAmendmentMarch.com

The site is very new, and some areas (like the forum) are still under construction. I will let you know when it is ready, and I will also let you know when they have achieved their 'non profit' status and all that stuff.

Does anything today sound like 1938 to YOU??

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjected peoples to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the underdog is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or police.”
– Adolph Hitler, Edict of March 18, 1938
translation: Jews Forbidden to Possess Weapons By Order of SS Reichsfuhrer Himmler Munich, November 19 [1938]

The SS Reichsfuhrer and German Police Chief has issued the following Order:
Persons who, according to the Nuremberg law, are regarded as Jews, are forbidden to possess any weapon. Violators will be condemned to a concentration camp and imprisoned for a period of up to 20 years.

GUNS WERE INVENTED FOR KILLING

Big-government worshipping gun-controllers never admit it -- that their real agenda is to "make the world safe for control-freak politicians and bureaucrats."

They know it would make too many people wake up and think.

Instead, however, they pathetically believe they've trumped all gun rights arguments anyway -- by gleefully dishing up their ridiculous "final argument," which is: "...but guns were invented for killing!" -- to which, I submit, the proper response is: "DUH! -- and THAT'S EXACTLY why a hundred-pound woman (or a 125-pound shopkeeper) can scare away 600 pounds of male attackers. Did you think pepper spray would do that?? Hmmm?"

Some people seem to be totally brain-dead!

"Inattention of the people"

"...There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our overthrow. Our destruction, should it ever come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence." ~ Daniel Webster

An interesting analogy, apropos to today...

The following is an interesting analogy, and extremely apropos:

A chemistry professor in a large college had some exchange students in the class. One day while the class was in the lab the professor noticed one young man (exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt. The professor asked the young man what was the matter.

The student told him he had had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country, while they were trying to overthrow his country's government and install a new communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question. He asked, 'Do you know how to catch wild pigs?'

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punchline. The young man said this was no joke.

'You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come every day to eat the free corn. When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.

When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence. They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

The young man then informed the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as corporate bail outs, supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc.. While we continually lose our freedoms -- just a little at a time.

If you see that all of this wonderful government 'help' is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends. If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably ignore this, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

"A government big enough to give you everything you want, is big enough to take away everything you have."

Where is the BACKUP ??

February 10th, 2009

I have yet another unbelievable story for you, submitted, once again, by a USCCA member. Thanks to Tim for reporting the story.

The man telling the story did a great job of keeping a level head, and neither over or under reacting. As you're about to see, it would have been incredibly easy to lose your cool in a situation like this.

******************************
Three days ago, my wife (visiting elderly parents) and I came home from dinner on our normally quite street. As we got out of our vehicle on our driveway I caught movement at the corner of our house and a young lady walked toward me in our front yard.

She said "policia" twice, and stood by my wife. She was clearly terrified, out of breath and kept looking in the direction she had come from, around the corner of our street.

I dialed 911 on my cell phone and walked out to the edge of our yard to get a look down the street. I always carry, at least, a Kel Tec .380, in my strong side front pocket. The woman suddenly took off running out of my neighborhood, and wouldn't stop when we called to her.

Expecting the police to show, I stayed in the front yard and my wife took my elderly parents inside. We "back" each other, so she soon told me she was inside the door and had her own firearm available.

A couple of minutes later a car pulled up on our street and a guy I'd never seen opened the passenger window and asked if I'd seen his wife.

I told him I'd seen an upset woman who asked for the police and that they should arrive soon. I told the guy that she'd left. He looked at me a moment, and then asked, "Is she in your house?" I told him again she'd left, and that he could talk to the police about the situation. He didn't pick up the hint to leave, and again said "Man, I asked you if my wife is in your house?!"

This looked like it was going down hill fast so I told him I was done talking to him, and suggested he leave, or talk to the police when they showed up.

He put the vehicle park, and started to open his door. I got a bit loud and direct with him, and after staring for a minute, he put his car in gear and rolled off with what was a final "Gangster Glare".

He drove back by two times in 5 minutes, both times slow and glaring at my at my front door.
In the next few minutes, several high speed cars arrived, friends and relatives of the guy in the car, and they joined him in the glaring at me at my front door. Immediately after, an equal number of Miami-Dade squad cars showed up.

After a couple of hours of agitated "interviews" at a nearby house, a couple of folks were toted off on what looked like a domestic violence event.

I guess we walked in on the victims "get away", and the perps emotional first moments after their skirmish.

I didn't need the Kel Tec, but it felt comforting to have it.

******************************
There are a lot of things that we can take away from this story. The biggest lesson for me, is to never assume that the person threatening you is alone. So often, I hear stories about an accomplice waiting in the shadows.

But in this case, we have an even scarier situation- where the offender actually was alone, but actually called in back up. The worst part about this, is the offender's backup arrived before the police did (even though the police were called much earlier).

Remember- EVERBODY has a cell phone now days, especially punks like the guy in this story. Even if you DO scare someone away who is threatening you, he may very well call in back up and come back for revenge.

So, call the police as soon as the situation allows, and stay on your toes until they get there.

Stay safe

NRA NEWS FLASH--Anti-Gun Deception On The Senate Floor

Anti-Gun Deception On The Senate Floor
Friday, January 30, 2009

As we reported last week, legislation to require a federal license to possess any detachable-magazine semi-automatic rifle or shotgun, or any handgun, has been introduced in Congress. Bills to re-impose the federal "assault weapon" and "large" magazine ban, or to impose a much broader ban, have been introduced in Congress since 2003, and will likely be introduced in the current Congress soon.

Already, the deliberate deceptions we heard from anti-gunners previously are resurfacing. Anti-gun Sen. Carl Levin, (D-Mich.), said Thursday on the floor of the Senate that "assault weapons" are "capable of firing up to 600 rounds per minute" and that they are "once again pervading our streets and neighborhoods."

Did we mention that our opponents are deliberately deceptive?

Many fully-automatic firearms can fire 10 rounds in a second, which theoretically would work out to 600 rounds per minute, but they cannot be reloaded fast enough to achieve anything near that rate in reality. But we are not talking about fully-automatic firearms—we're talking about semi-automatics, and the difference between them need not be explained here.

"Pervading our streets?" Anti-gun lawmakers swore up and down that once the "assault weapon" ban expired, the murder rate would go through the roof. Well, the ban expired in 2004 and since then, the murder rate has gone down to a 43-year low.

The anti-gunners think they can revive this bogus issue, and maybe they can; they will no doubt try. But Congress required a study of the 1994 ban, and the study concluded, "the banned weapons and magazines were never used in more than a small fraction of gun murders." Violent crime was going down before the ban, and it has continued to go down after the ban. If the issue is looked at objectively, it should be over, done with, water under the bridge. The ban should never have been imposed in the first place, let alone be imposed again or ever expanded.

And certainly guns should not be banned on the basis of nonsense like Sen. Levin's speech, and other deliberate deception perpetuated by gun ban groups.

Deliberate deception such as:
  • A folding stock makes a rifle concealable, as if it were a pocket knife. But anyone who knows anything about gun laws knows that federal law requires a rifle to be 26 inches long, regardless of its stock, and a 26-inch-long rifle is not concealable.
  • A pistol grip is designed to allow a rifle to be fired "from the hip." But the 90 million pistols owned by the American people all have pistol grips, and they aren't designed to be fired "from the hip." Besides that, the fact that a rifle has a shoulder stock and sights mounted on the barrel proves that it is designed to be fired from the shoulder.
  • Magazines designed to hold more than 10 rounds are not useful for self-defense. If they really believe that, let them propose to prohibit the military and police from having pistol magazines that hold 12, 15, and 17 rounds.
  • These guns are "high-powered." Next time an anti-gunner calls a gun "high-powered," ask him to name one gun that is low-powered. They even call .22 rimfires "high-powered," when they want to brand a .22 as a so-called "assault weapon.”

NRA members who own AR-15s and other so-called "assault weapons," you are not alone. There are nearly two million AR-15s in our country, the same number of M1s, the same number of M1 Carbines, and many more Mini-14s, semi-automatic shotguns, pump-action shotguns, and all the other guns the anti-gunner want to call "assault weapon." Countless millions of American own handguns that use magazines of over 10 rounds.

Our challenge is to coalesce these Americans into a political force that will make anti-gun lawmakers' heads swim. When they repeat gun ban groups' deliberate deceptions, we must tell the truth; not some of the time, but all of the time! But we cannot wait for them to act, and then only respond in defense. We must be out front. When we carry our message, we must do so confident in the knowledge that we are doing so in a manner that respects our fellow citizens, and their right to disagree--a way of doing business that is alien to our opponents--and that our arguments are based in logic and fact, not deceit.

PRELIMINARY GUN BAN LIST IS REVEALED

Jan. 5, 2008

1. Officials stocking up on AR-15-style long guns
2. Preliminary gun ban list revealed

1. S&W sales
With bans on AR-15 and AR-15-styled rifles to the public expected under the Obama administration (see gun-ban lists below), Smith and Wesson has just announced expansion of that market, with the sale of 275 of its M&P15 rifles to the Chicago police department. http://tinyurl.com/742qre

Chicago, president-elect Obama’s home town, has virtual bans on handguns and strict repressive limits on long guns, but police are excluded and criminals blithely ignore the provisions.

The M&P15 strongly resembles the AR-15, a high quality, semi automatic long gun used by the U.S. military and the public for decades. What the Chicago police expect to do with 275 of the guns, vilified as assault weapons by the lamestream media, was undisclosed.

Assault, it has been noted, is a type of behavior, not a type of hardware.

In other news, the Minnesota State Patrol has purchased 90 of the high-quality M&P15 firearms, which retail for more than $1,000 each.

In still other news, actor David Spade donated $100,000 to the Phoenix police department, to buy 50 new AR-15 rifles made by Colt, an S&W competitor. Spade was apparently moved by a “news” broadcast that said Phoenix officers had to buy their own rifles due to lack of funding, and he wanted to help them out.

2. Gun-ban list proposed

Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Bradys plan to introduce shortly.

I have an outline of the Brady’s current plans and targets of opportunity, I’m working on getting that news out asap after these ban lists, probably be ready in the next few days. It’s horrific. They’re going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They’ve made little mention of criminals.

Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. See what 250 of your peers thought during our recent Bill of Rights Day event at the Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix: http://www.gunlaws.com/BOR-Day-2008-Report.htm

The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse)

Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will:
(Remember the name Eric Holder? We warned you about him a while back)
Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any “semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General.” Note that Obama’s pick for this office (Eric Holder, confirmation hearing set for Jan. 15) wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home.

In making this determination, the bill says, “there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.

”In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

That presumption can be challenged only by suing the federal government over each firearm it decides to ban, in a court it runs with a judge it pays. This virtually dismisses the principles of the Second Amendment.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn’t have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, “sporting purpose” is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

If these near-total bans aren’t enough, the most dangerous part may be the phrase “pistol grip” because: “The term ‘pistol grip’ means a grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip.” In other words, any semi-auto long gun with a grip (that’s ALL semi-auto long guns) would be banned under the existing proposal. It’s not clear what they hope to achieve by deceptively banning guns with grips instead of just calling to ban the guns -- even an idiot can tell it’s the same thing.

I didn’t cover all the magazine bans, transfer bans, dealer record-keeping and centralized reporting, and a host of nuisance details -- there will be time enough for that when the new lists are released soon: “As soon as President-elect Obama is inaugurated and the 111th Congress is sworn in,” according to Ms. Brady. Congress is set to be sworn in on Jan. 6, Inauguration Day is Jan. 20.

No one expects the new proposal to be less abusive than the current one supported by the party of the Democrats. Remember -- these bans were proposed when the congressional anti-rights crowd had no chance of success. Now they are ready to run wild, or according to Sarah herself, “I have never been so confident.” The “news” media has failed to report on any of this, preferring instead to blare that the incoming president supports the Second Amendment and commonsense (sic) laws.

To see the whole bill, go to http://thomas.loc.gov and search for HR 1022, (switch to the 110th Congress if the 111th has begun).

The excellent Firearms Coalition started by the late Neal Knox and now run by his family members makes these important points about the upcoming Judiciary hearings for Attorney General nominee Holder:

“The Democrat members of the Judiciary Committee are all sworn enemies to the Second Amendment and are unlikely to be swayed at all by any firearms related arguments, but might hesitate to confirm based on Holder’s participation in the pardons of 16 Puerto Rican terrorists and billionaire financier and arms merchant Marc Rich [and perhaps the Elian Gonzalez abduction by federal agents Holder authorized]. Any letters to Democrats should focus on those issues.

“On the Republican side, Arlen Specter, the ranking Republican on the committee has never been a friend to gun rights, but he owes his reelection to NRA support and has expressed concern over the pardon issues. Among the other Republicans, most are relatively reliable votes, but only Coburn has routinely taken a leadership role on Second Amendment matters. All of them need to be pressed hard to do everything they can to block the appointment.

“For more information about Eric Holder and why his appointment must be fought tooth and nail, go to our web site at http://www.FirearmsCoalition.org.

CORRECT THEM POLITICALLY AND WIN!

We've all talked about how we're losing
the war of words in the struggle for our liberties.
Well here comes the cavalry.

POLITICALLY CORRECTED
Next time, I will share the Glossary of Terms

Part One -- The Concept

Certain words hurt you when you talk about your rights and liberties. People who would deny your rights have done a good job of manipulating the language so far.

Without even realizing it, you're probably using terms that actually help the people who want to disarm you.

To preserve, protect and defend your rights in the critical debate on where power should reside in America, you need effective word choices. Try out some of the ideas in this chart the next time you deal with this subject.

Then just give it a rest and watch where it goes. You'll hear their litany, replete with flaws. Don't rebut, seize the moment, listen hard and learn -- then just raise an eyebrow and think, "How 'bout that. Feller doesn't even own a gun. It takes all kinds." Then talk about something else. And boy, does the disjoint hang in their craw.

They want you to say (& you lose if you say):
It's better to say (& they lose if you say):
pro gun
pro rights
gun control
crime control
anti-gun movement
anti-self-defense movement
semiautomatic handgun
sidearm
concealed carry
carry or right to carry
assault or lethal weapon
household firearms
saturday night specials
racist gun laws
junk guns
the affordability issue
high capacity magazines
full capacity magazines
Second Amendment
Bill of Rights
the powerful gun lobby
civil rights organizations
common sense legislation
dangerous utopian ideas
reasonable gun controls
victim disarmament
gun control laws
infringement laws
anti gun
anti-gun bigot
anti gun
anti-gun prejudice
anti gun
anti rights

When they say:
You say:
Guns kill
Guns save lives
Guns cause crime
Guns stop crime
Guns are bad
Guns are why America is still free
Assault weapons are bad
Assault is a type of behavior
Guns are so dangerous
Guns are supposed to be dangerous
Guns are too dangerous to own
You should take a safety class
People shouldn't have guns
Maybe you shouldn't have one
Guns should be totally outlawed
Let's try that with drugs first
The purpose of a gun is to kill
The purpose of a gun is to protect
People don't need guns
Only good people need guns
Guns should go away
Then you should personally sign up to never have a gun in your life, like you want me to.
They should take away all the guns
Bad guys first
They should take away all the guns because they are so dangerous.
Who exactly is the "they" you would give all these dangerous guns to?
Gun owners should be registered
Bad guys first
Gun owners should be registered to help stop crime.
So, how would writing my name on government list help stop crime?
We need more gun laws
Criminal activity is already banned
Why would anyone want to own a gun?
You're kidding, right? You mean you really don't know? Well, why do you think we give guns to the police?
I'm not against people having guns
What sort of guns do you think people should have, and why?
Do you really have a gun?
Of course, don't you?
